Three finalists were announced and are now set to open for Shamans’s Harvest at The Lost Horizon, Syracuse on 7/11. Get tickets (Here) We recently had the opportunity to catch up with the first of 3 finalists, Sampere. This is what they had to say about being chosen as a finalist and what the rest of 2017 holds for them.

So how do you feel about being chosen by KROCK for the battle of the bands? Did you expect to be picked?

-Truthfully, We feel a bit overwhelmed and excited about this opportunity. We stayed optimistic about being chosen when we released our music video shortly before the competition started in hopes of a strong reaction; Seemed to work perfectly.

Could you tell us a little bit about how Sampere got started?

-It all started with the writing and recording of a couple songs. While here in Syracuse, the people I was working with recommended I play some shows and begin to form a band. The project started getting a lot of local attention and I decided to make it an official group. As soon as DJ joined as drummer/life enthusiasts, things really started taking off and we haven’t looked back.

How would you describe your band to people who have never heard your music?

It’s hard to pinpoint our genre but we sit perfectly somewhere between hard-rock and alternative.

You guys faced some pretty great competition for this contest. Who are some of your personal favorite local bands?

The Alpha Fire, Only the Chosen, Breaking Solace

Aside from being chosen for this battle of the bands, what has been the highlight of your musical career thus far?

Gaining a small regional presence and getting to this point on our own musical intuition.

If you could tour with any 3 national acts who would they be?

-Imagine Dragons, Foo Fighters or Green Day

However, billing us with any Warped Tour band would be appropriate for our high energy when performing live.

What’s the rest of 2017 hold for Sampere?

New Direction. Different Sound. Fresh Look.
